Prevalent disease in women: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (POCs):

Among many hormonal diseases, polycystic ovarian syndrome commonly known as POCs is the most prevalent in women.  In this syndrome, the outer edge of the ovary gets thick and cysts appear outside every ovary.
Polycystic ovary syndrome has symptoms including excessive hair growth on the body, excessive uterine bleeding, high blood pressure, obesity, excessive insulin, elevated levels of androgens and acne. Difficulty in getting pregnant and irregular menstruation cycle is also due to POC. In older women, difficulty of conceiving or unnecessary weight gain possibly will be the first sign of getting affected with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.
Researchers are working on finding out the causes of POCs, but it’s still unknown. This is a genetic disease which can effect generations to generations. The complications could become fatal if not diagnosed early on.  Heart diseases and acute diabetes could be caused by POCs.
There are several ways to treat POCs, including medicines in the early stages, whereas surgeries and alternative medicine are prescribed for the severe cases.
