HAY FEVER-MAJOR SYMPTOMS & TREATMENT

Hay Fever is a set of symptoms predominantly in the eyes and nose. It is also known as allergic rhinitis. This type of fever occurred as a result of exposure to particles of dander, dust and the pollens of certain plants. The people who are sensitive to these particles are strongly attracted by hay fever.
The major symptoms of hay fever include itching, nasal congestion and obstruction, eyelid swelling and middle ear effusion. Hay fever is most common during haying season. Skin testing is the most reliable method for the diagnosis of this type of allergy.



There are various medications available for the treatment of hay fever such as Nasal corticosteroids, Antihistamines, Decongestants etc. Other methods of treatment include immunotherapy, rinsing of nasal passages with sterile saline.
