Hay
Fever is a set of symptoms predominantly in the eyes and nose. It is also known
as allergic rhinitis. This type of fever occurred as a result of exposure to
particles of dander, dust and the pollens of certain plants. The people who are
sensitive to these particles are strongly attracted by hay fever.
The
major symptoms of hay fever include itching, nasal congestion and obstruction,
eyelid swelling and middle ear effusion. Hay fever is most common during haying
season. Skin testing is the most reliable method for the diagnosis of this type
of allergy.
There
are various medications available for the treatment of hay fever such as Nasal corticosteroids,
Antihistamines, Decongestants etc. Other methods of treatment include
immunotherapy, rinsing of nasal passages with sterile saline.
